Jennifer Ven Rooy is the Chief Operating Officer at the nonprofit, Lakeside Packaging Plus. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Human Services Leadership from UW Oshkosh and has been working in the nonprofit sector since 2010. Her experience includes working individuals with disabilities, employment and training, affordable housing, and children and youth services. With a strong background in fundraising and programming, Jennifer enjoys making connections that will lead to long lasting change and support Lakeside's mission of creating meaningful opportunities and community engagement for individuals with diverse abilities.
Laura Jones, a native of Chicago, IL, graduated from St. Norbert College, where she studied Sociology and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. After graduation, Laura started her professional career at the Boys and Girls Club as a STAR (Scholars on Target to Achieve Results) Coordinator working with Black/African American students to close the opportunity gap. Laura now works with African Heritage Inc. as the Social and Community Outreach Service Director. She earned her Master's Degree in Student Affairs Administration in May 2021 and is currently working towards her Doctoral Degree in Educational management. In addition to the community work Laura does with African Heritage, Inc., she also works closely with The Privilege Institute as a Youth Action Project Leader facilitating workshops on issues around diversity, and equity, while providing strategies and solutions for youth participants. Laura serves as a mentor and Program Director for Lovin’ the Skin I’m In, a non-profit organization empowering and uplifting girls who identify as African American, black or biracial in Northeast Wisconsin while developing their gifts, talents, and leadership skills. Laura is also a co-author in Teaching Brilliant Beautiful Black Girls and is a recipient of the 2023 Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce Future 15 Award.
Kristen Gondek, Executive Director and co-founder of People of Progression, grew up and graduated from Kaukauna, WI. Kristen’s lifelong passion for advocacy and helping others heal from their traumas is directly derived from challenges she faced during her childhood residing in a small town where she was, in most cases, the only Black individual in the class, school, social group, and within her own home and family. Today, Kristen uses her voice, privilege, and life experiences to dismantle and raise awareness of colorism, anti-black racism, and how racial targeting can present itself in our daily systems. In 2022, Kristen received Appleton Monthly’s Women Inspire Award, as well as she was a recipient of the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce Future 15 Award. Outside of her dedication to People of Progression, she has served as a board member of the Kaleidoscope Academy Charter School Board and currently serves as a board member of the Basic Needs Giving Partnership, Diverse & Resilient, and Outagamie County’s Criminal Justice Coordinating Council.
