Most of you've heard of us. PopEarth was formed in 2017 to "creatively connect people to the natural world." It grew out of a Community Conversation session a few years ago. Participants in that conversation wanted to keep the dialog about environmental challenges and climate change in a comfortable, fun way. So, a small group formed a plan to organize fun "pop-up" events using art and science for people of all ages. Our first event was an art exhibit showing essays on environmental issues with accompanying paintings. We then showed a converted electric car, a display of different ways to cut lawn, and facts about our carbon footprint in downtown Appleton, Thousand Islands in Kaukauna, and at Menasha City Hall. In the near future we are planning flash mob appearances and a pop-up forest in Menasha. Our Facebook page will give details closer to those events.
All this costs money. So, in keeping with our policy of having fun, we are hosting two FUNdraising cruises on July 23 on the Fox River, one at 5:30 p.m. and one at 7:30 aboard the RiverTyme Too. There will be entertainment, snacks, a drawing, and cash bar. The cost is $35 per person. Reservations are due July 15th. Space is limited, so make reservations soon by emailing PopEarth86@gmail.com. See our Facebook page for more details.
