Join us for a ribbon cutting at the Hearthstone Historic House Museum!
A ribbon cutting and celebration, announcing the recently restored Victorian kitchen of Hearthstone Historic House Museum. The ribbon cutting is set to take place at 10:10 AM.
Hearthstone will celebrate its 30 year anniversary as a museum with the grand opening of the long-awaited restoration of the kitchen. Restored to the 1880s, the kitchen shows Mr. Rogers penchant for technology, innovation and modern thinking. Volunteers stripped the kitchen of its 1960s decor to uncover clues to the original Victorian layout. Visitors will now be able to experience the culinary side of Victorian life. The house is also featuring exhibits about the various eras in life of the house and the families who lived there.
Hearthstone Historic House Museum is the first house in the world to be electrified using hydro-electricity. It is the second house in the world to have electricity. Appleton was the birthplace of hyrdo-electricity, the first city to have an Electric Company and the first city to have electric trolley cars. Hearthstone is celebrating 30 years as a museum this year and the 135th anniversary of electricity.
