Join the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce as we welcome Wisconsin's Chief Economist John Koskinen for a recap of the State of Wisconsin's Economy in 2016 and projections for the economy going forward. In addition to providing an overview of the state's economy, Koskinen will also examine local Metro and Regional data and highlight which sectors have improved and which ones continue to struggle.
Chief Economist, John Koskinen
John Koskinen served as the Chief Economist and Administrator for the Division of Research and Policy Analysis, Wisconsin Department of Revenue from 2007 until 2015. He rejoined the DOR earlier this year as the State Economist to the Secretary.
John has testified on the Wisconsin economy before multiple standing committees of the state legislature. He has presented on Wisconsin economic outlook to the various groups around the state including state and regional economic development associations, colleges and universities, financial institutions, rating agencies, and trade associations. He has been cited as a commentator on the state's economy in the press, radio, and television throughout the state and around the country.
Prior to joining the Department of Revenue in 2007, John served as the Staff Economist for the Governor's Budget Office, Wisconsin Department of Administration from 1979 to 2007. He started his professional career at the Wisconsin Legislative Fiscal Bureau, moved on to the Department of Commerce, then back to graduate school before settling in at DOA.
John has his B.A. and M.A. in Economics from Marquette University. He has done additional graduate studies in Economics at Northwestern University and computer science at the University of Wisconsin.
