We are currently looking to hire an Associate Process Engineer to augment our team with their knowledge and abilities.

Expected Results:

  • Work safely and foster a Safety Culture, working with shop floor and salaried personnel to identify and address safety concerns.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that positively impact quality, uptime, throughput and yield in support of departmental goals.
  • Drive new product development efforts in Operations, translating R&D work to production-scale equipment as an integral member of cross-functional project teams.
  • Understand customer needs and translate those needs into functional product designs, combining that knowledge with fundamental technical expertise to manage risks in an ever-changing environment.


Supporting Activities:

  • Actively participate in safety improvement efforts including Glass Wall discussions, direct interactions with hourly employees, individual training and inspections.
  • Be an effective team player on a multi-disciplined Pod Team by communicating effectively, collaborating openly, working together for mutual success.
  • Provide leadership in the manufacturing process on a daily basis to maximize throughput and yield while maintaining product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Support capital projects to ensure successful installation and startup.
  • Recommend and implement changes to existing product lines and processes.
  • Interface with customers to resolve complaints and understand and meet their needs.
  • Interface with product development professionals to assist in transition from solution development to launch and beyond.
  • Ability to work in paper/coatings lab environment as needed.
  • Practice daily continuous improvement in all aspects of work, utilizing structured problem-solving when appropriate and communicating effectively with others.


Required Prior Accomplishments, Experience, Skills:

  • BS in Paper Science, Chemical Engineering or relevant science field
  • 7+ years of experience in product development/process engineering.
  • Ability to apply engineering and scientific principles to resolve problems and make improvements.
  • Capable of working in a flexible, often shifting, environment.
  • Ability to interact effectively with customers, management team and production personnel.
  • Proven ability to work in a cross functional team environment.
  • Experience managing smaller projects (5 or less people / <6 months duration) and/or participation in larger projects.
  • Business knowledge of cost/benefits analysis, setting and executing long-term strategic plans.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing environments, processes and procedures.
  • Ability to drive resolution of complex problems as both an individual contributor and facilitator.
  • Willingness to travel, domestically and internationally.
