The Community Blood Center (CBC) collects blood from donors, processes it in our laboratory, and prepares it for hospital patients.  We currently provide 17 Wisconsin and Michigan hospitals with a full range of blood components, including red blood cells, platelets, and plasma.  CBC operates neighborhood donor centers in Appleton, Oshkosh, Little Chute, and Woodruff, along with 8 blood drive units. Last year, volunteer donors gave more than 50,000 blood donations with The Community Blood Center.
 
Description:
 
The Donor Services Equipment Coordinator is responsible for procurement of new equipment, development of standard operating procedures specific to use of the equipment, and coordination and/or completion of required quality control, maintenance, and repair of equipment that is essential to Donor Services operations. This includes but is not limited to equipment supporting registration, whole blood and apheresis collections, as well as supply storage temperature monitoring functions. Ensures necessary equipment is operational and available for use at all collection locations.
 
Primary Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Manages multiple priorities simultaneously while working independently, with the end user of the equipment, and/or other members of a project team.
  • Performs market research and gathers data and information for presentation to department management in the evaluation of prospective equipment purchases.
  • Applies critical thinking to identify potential obstacles when evaluating prospective new equipment with regards to its intended use at The Community Blood Center.
  • Serves as the project lead for the implementation of new equipment and/or revised standard operating procedures.
  • Implements new equipment by developing standard operating procedures and validation/verification plans in compliance with manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
  • Acquire and maintain service contracts for equipment that requires vendor performed repair and/or maintenance.
  • Collaborates with members of other departments to ensure proper validation/verification, regulatory, calibration, and storage requirements are satisfied.
  • Schedules/performs the cleaning, maintenance, and repair activities for donor services equipment in accordance with manufacture recommendations and CBC procedures in a manner that ensures timely completion according to requirements.
  • Maintains records for equipment quality control and maintenance with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Assists in implementation of safe and efficient processes related to the mobile fleet, including pre-drive/post-drive activities.
  • Performs validations and/or verifications of new and/or repaired equipment.
  • Conducts training as necessary for relevant process revisions and implementations.
 
Job Requirements:
 
EDUCATION: 
  • Bachelor’s degree desired or equivalent related work experience.
 
EXPERIENCE:             
  • High level of computer skills required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and coordinate the actions of others.
  • Minimum of one year experience writing technical documents, preferably in a similarly regulated industry.
