Company Summary:
 
The Community Blood Center (CBC) collects blood from donors, processes it in our laboratory, and prepares it for hospital patients.  We currently provide 18 Wisconsin and Michigan hospitals with a full range of blood components, including red blood cells, platelets, and plasma.  CBC operates neighborhood donor centers in Appleton, Oshkosh, Little Chute, and Woodruff, along with 8 blood drive units. Last year, volunteer donors gave more than 50,000 blood donations with the Community Blood Center.
 
Description:
 
The Community Blood Center is seeking an Application Specialist who will produce high quality, detailed work based on established standards, guidelines and procedures. The Application Specialist will maintain, administer and support blood center information systems.  Including supporting the organization’s network, hardware and software, and writing and maintaining decision support reports. 
 
 
Primary Job Responsibilities:
 
  • Develops, maintains and run reports and queries in support of operations.
  • Establishes data accuracy and validity derived from a variety of systems.
  • Performs data analysis using statistical techniques.
  • Ensures compliance of applicable standards and regulations area of oversight and operation.
  • Analyzes, plans, designs, and installs new and existing personal computer systems
  • Purchases or builds hardware to meet user needs.
  • Installs new, and maintains existing hardware and software.
  • Supports server, network and desktop hardware, software and applications.
  • Supports the network and computing infrastructure plan.
  • Supports administration of servers and server clusters.
  • Manages all system back-up and restore protocol.
  • Performs troubleshooting analysis of servers, workstations and associated systems.
  • Monitors system performance and implements performance tuning.
  • Creates/maintains Network related Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Provides in-depth knowledge of Information System.
  • Assists with development of validation plan and validate BECS updates.
  • Troubleshoots Donor Information System problems and answer user questions.
  • Creates/maintains procedure corresponding training plans.
  • Develops/maintains interface(s) for laboratory equipment to Donor Information System.
  • Develops/maintains remote site access to the Donor Information System.
 
Job Requirements:
 
Education:       
  • Degree in computer science, related field, or equivalent experience.
     
    Experience:    
  • Thorough knowledge of hardware, software, networking essentials, network operating systems, network architecture, configuration and protocols.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Visio, Project, Access and SQL.
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Crystal Reports.
     
    Skills:              
  • Excellent organizational, oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to plan and multi-task.
  • Skilled in accurate documentation with emphasis on detail.
  • High level of assessment skills.
