Job Description
Position Title: Graphic Designer
Reports To: Director of Marketing & Communications
Department: Marketing
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt
Position Purpose
The Graphic Designer is a vital role in the Chamber Marketing & Communications department. The department is an internal support team for all Chamber programming and events and oversees branding for the organization. The team works collaboratively and is responsible for communications and promotions between the Chamber, our membership and the community to keep them informed of all activities, programs, services and benefits to effectively promote the organization and its mission.
The Graphic Designer’s primary responsibilities are to develop concepts and design promotional and communications materials via various mediums that meet the clients’ (both internal and external) needs including print and digital. These materials are to be aligned with the Chamber brand, identity and mission while effectively representing the organization in the community. This role provides marketing and communications support to the Director of Marketing & Communications, as needed, for all Chamber programming, events and communications vehicles.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: The Graphic Designer is responsible for the following specific functions and duties:
  • Designs communications tactics via various mediums, both print and digital, including ads, posters, brochures, newsletters, e-newsletters, banner graphics, event invitations, programs, and sales collateral in accordance with the Chamber brands and identity standards.
  • Maintains the Chamber’s brand style guide referencing brand story, brand guidelines and identity standards for application in all Chamber marketing and communication.
  • Designs layouts for various ongoing printed publications, including the bi-weekly spread of The Business News along with graphics and design for e-newsletter communications. 
  • Works with the team to creatively develop and execute special projects, including but not limited to, the Chamber Annual Report, Leadership Fox Cities yearbook, Chamber Sponsorship Catalog and other sales materials.
  • Maintains a strong relationship with print vendors. Oversees the ordering of special paper used for internal print jobs beyond standard office copy paper.
  • Maintains centralized “Chamber marketing resources” folder of reference materials, templates, logos, sell sheets and other items for Chamber-wide use. Also maintains business logos in a centralized location.  
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Position Requirements
  • The Graphic Designer must possess creativity, resourcefulness, strong communication skills, excellent organizational skills, strong computer skills and graphic design skills.  This person must be self-motivated, work well under deadlines, must possess strong interpersonal skills and work well in a team environment.
  • A proven graphic design experience and a strong portfolio of past work. 
  • This person should be well-versed experienced in the Adobe Creative Suite software programs (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). Other online program experience also a plus (Constant Contact, website content management systems, etc.).
  • This person should have a Bachelor’s degree in art, graphic design or a related field, and 3 years of relevant experience.
  • To successfully perform the responsibilities of this position, the Graphic Designer must possess a valid driver’s license, must be available for occasional early morning and evening meetings and events, must be able to devote the occasional additional hours required to ensure the timely completion of all responsibilities related to this position, must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress and must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
