Job Description
Position Title: Director – Existing Industry Services
Reports To: Vice President – Economic Development
Department: Fox Cities Regional Partnership
Exempt/Non-Exempt: Exempt
 
Position Purpose
Oversees the Fox Cities Regional Partnership’s program of work related to the retention and expansion of primary employers within the Fox Cities Region, including a business visitation program, related data collection, entry and aggregation; and identification and coordination of available incentives for retention/attraction.
 
Establishes and strengthens relationships with key leadership within the area’s primary employment base. Identifies companies at risk, those with growth opportunities and potential supply chain opportunities. Coordinates, cultivates and manages relationships with public sector officials and staff members.
 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Business Retention and Expansion (45%)
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the comprehensive industry retention program
    • Schedule company retention visits to include local government investors
    • Conduct on site interviews with senior decision makers
    • With the Companies permission, coordinate response to any concerns uncovered at the on-site interview and provide timely follow-up
    • Maintain the inForce data base, provide regular reporting on the BRE efforts
    • Identify potential supply chain opportunities
    • Identify companies at risk of downsizing or relocating out of the area and assist in the coordination of a response.
    • Ensure complete confidentiality of all company information
    • Coordinate operations related to Economic Development activities, including but not limited to business recruitment, retention and expansion efforts as well as general Partnership marketing and media communications.
General Workforce and Economic Development Activities (45%)
  • Coordinate projects and strategies by working with staff and community leaders, determining needs, analyzing trends, scheduling and coordinating meetings, implementing strategies, preparing and submitting reports, and developing solutions and strategy analysis.
  • Coordinate, implement and evaluate operations of specific assigned programs.
  • Build and maintain community relationships by representing the Partnership as liaison, reporting and/or presenting to the community groups, and serving on various committees.
  • Conduct research to identify emerging needs, trends, and services related to assigned area of offerings, and compiles and analyzes data.
  • Assist in site analysis by preparing information packets, working with developers, realtors and area landowners, researching properties and businesses, and participating in facilitation of prospect tours.
  • Prepare proposals for clients and respond to inquiries/requests for information.
  • Coordinate meeting opportunities through prospect analysis and contact strategies in preparation of trade show and targeted market visits.
  • Assist in developing, utilizing and monitoring program budget.
  • Identify funding sources for programs; participate in writing and administering grants.
  • Ensure project compliance with applicable internal and external requirements.
Other duties as assigned (10%)
 
Position Requirements
  • Working knowledge of policies and procedures regarding economic development is essential
  • Must possess excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with co-worker and the general public.
  • Must possess organizational skills to coordinate the work with team, maintain files and logs, and compile data to generate reports.
  • Candidates must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint).
  • To successfully perform the responsibilities of this position, candidates must possess a valid driver’s license, must be able to work under regular, moderate levels of stress and must be able to regularly lift and move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
 
Qualifications
  • Completion of post-secondary education in Business, Economics or equivalent field.
  • Experience in Economic Development, Workforce Development or Business preferred
